Jay Waugh

Director, Specialized Services

Jay Waugh is Director, Specialized Services, supporting instruction, leadership coaching, and Special Education services for schools throughout the region along with charter renewal services and special projects. Jay has been an educator for over twenty years, beginning as a Special Education Teacher. Since then, Jay has held a variety of positions, including Special Education Director, Assistant Principal, and Athletic Director. Jay recently served as a Central Office Administrator, supporting and coaching principals and other school leaders in the areas of teaching, learning and school operations.

Jay is a CamdenPLUS alumnus, completing the two-year school leader residency in 2016. Jay has also served his local community of Collingswood, NJ as a School Board Member from 2017-2020. Jay earned a Bachelor of Arts from West Virginia University, a Master’s in Education from Holy Family University, and principal certification from California University of Pennsylvania. Jay is currently working towards his Doctorate of Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Social Justice & Equitable Practices in Education at Rowan University.

Jay enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. They enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures around the country and world. They also enjoy taking their three children to national parks, camping, hiking, boating, and fishing. Jay is an avid long-distance runner, completing his first marathon in just under four hours.

Jay’s favorite quote is from Malcom X: “Children have a lesson adults should learn, to not be ashamed of failing, but to get up and try again.” Jay is motivated by social justice, ensuring that he does whatever it takes to break down social and racial barriers that will allow children of all races and colors to grow, learn and thrive.
