Special Education Coordinator

Part Time

Foundations, Inc. is seeking an experienced professional for a part-time/contracted Special Education Coordinator. The ideal candidate is well organized, personable, and able to travel locally.

  • Valid PA Certification in Special Education
  • Master's Degree or higher in Special Education, Special Education Supervisor, Education Leadership, or similar area
  • Have 5+ years’ experience as a Special Education Administrator in PA, preferably in Philadelphia area and/or PA charter schools

Special Education Administration Support

Education Specialist

Full Time

The Education Specialist’s primary purpose is to support the organization in providing educational services, such as:

  • providing professional development, training and technical assistance for regionally and nationally contracted services
  • creating curriculum for adults and youth for regionally and nationally-contracted services

This position requires regional and national travel, depending on client needs, up to 60%

  • Experience designing and facilitating trainings and/or working with adults in a learning or coaching environment, in the classroom and/or in an online setting
  • Advanced understanding of adult learning principles
  • Experience writing district or school-level curriculum and/or creating curricular-based tools and resources
  • Highly organized with the ability to work effectively under pressure and produce a high-quality work product within tight time constraints
  • A minimum of 2 consecutive full academic years of professional teaching or out-of-school time experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong writing ability and experience in public speaking and presentations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications as well as basic database management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Available to travel, both regionally and nationally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience working with children and youth (preferably in a low-income community) in out-of-school time programs and 21st Century Community Learning Centers
  • Experience with professional writing and/or copy editing
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and experience with uses of technology as used and applied in a K-12 setting

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver professional learning, training, coaching, and/or technical assistance to out-of-school time and school-day teaching staff
  • Conduct site visits and contribute to program evaluation services
  • Collaborate with lead project partners and contribute to planning, development, and management of Foundations’ involvement in various projects
  • Assist with the development and production of new trainings, services, tools and materials
  • Create, edit, and assess content for a web-based learning portal

Additional Responsibilities

  • Contribute to ancillary tasks such as newsletters, webinars, focus groups, conferences, meetings, etc.
  • Conduct outreach to secure new clients and maintain relationships with existing clients, as needed

Tutors and Reading Specialists

Part Time

Foundations, Inc. is currently seeking experienced, certified Teachers and Reading Specialists to join our team of tutors to work one-on-one with local Philadelphia students who need your help and support to improve their skills.

We provide competitive hourly rates and flexible hours (during school hours, after school and Saturdays). Tutoring is provided in student homes and at other public locations such as libraries.

Institutional Giving Manager

Full Time

The Institutional Giving Manager position is a great opportunity for a mid­career development professional to join an energetic and collaborative team. The Institutional Giving Manager will be a key member on the development team, highly involved in all aspects of institutional giving, and responsible for managing Foundations’ relationships with foundations, corporations and potentially, with government agencies.

The majority of the Institutional Giving Manager’s time will be focused on identifying, soliciting, and stewarding Foundations’ corporate and foundation donors. The Institutional Giving Manager’s other top priorities will be enhancing board involvement and increasing conference sponsorships.

The position works closely with communications and finance teams, as well as with the Chief Executive Officer. The Institutional Giving Manager’s work will be critical to the success of our overall efforts to improve educational quality in this country, and we’re looking for a dynamic, passionate, and thoughtful team member to help propel our work forward. This position will be based at our office in Mount Laurel, NJ.

  • At least 5 years of development experience in two or more of the following areas: proposal development, grant management, corporate sponsorships, prospect research
  • Appreciation for Foundations’ mission of increasing educational quality for the nation’s most vulnerable students
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and complete projects successfully
  • Strong contributor in team environments, willing to give and receive candid feedback

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Philadelphia area philanthropic community
  • Familiarity and/or experience with national funders for education
  • Experience in or significant knowledge of education-related non-profit organizations

Institutional Giving Stewardship and Solicitation

  • Research and identify corporate and foundation prospects and opportunities.
  • Assist in developing engagement strategies for current and potential institutional donors.
  • Support strategic donor outreach and communications, and maintain regular correspondence with key funding representatives.
  • Conduct in­person meetings with foundation staff members to cultivate, solicit and steward relationships as needed, utilizing senior staff where necessary.
  • Assist the communications team in the development of engaging informational materials for funders.

Data Management

  • Oversee the organization’s development database in relation to institutional donors, developing strategies for its use and collaborating with the database manager to ensure regular, accurate data collection in support of meaningful, regular reporting.
  • Analyze and share fundraising and grant implementation and impact data to empower informed decision making with respect to Foundations’ prospects and strategies, and effective compliance with and stewardship of current grants.

Grant Management

  • Develop and maintain an annual schedule of letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports, tracking outcomes and updating the calendar on a regular basis.
  • Build and sustain a pipeline of prospective funders by researching and identifying new grant prospects.
  • Provide leadership for strategic planning around funding alignment, upgrades from current donors, and increasing multi­year grants.
  • Work with development team to ensure accurate information is transmitted in all funder communications.

Board Engagement

  • Cultivate relationships with National Advisory Board members, and maintain regular correspondence with assistance from the communication department
  • Engage National Advisory Board members with Foundations’ mission, seeking beneficial connections as well as fundraising assistance

National and Local Conference Sponsorships

  • Support Foundations’ flagship professional learning experience – the three-and-a-half-day national education conference Beyond School Hours – by pursuing conference sponsorships
