Ronald Goldstein

Executive Director, Center for Afterschool and Expanded Learning

Ronald Goldstein leads Foundations' work with out-of-school-time educators to build powerful learning environments that all children and youth deserve. As a member of Foundations' management team, he provides input and guidance for the organization's strategic direction and initiatives. Ron believes that educators and youth development professionals must be caring, consistent and willing to develop and learn - the same qualities that we try to instill in our youth. With over 40 years as an educator, school leader and program administrator, his insights are truly grounded in practice. He develops and manages successful K-12 afterschool and summer programming, and serves as a national trainer for OST leaders and practitioners.

Ron's leadership style encompasses a "lead by doing" approach which enables him to work alongside his colleagues as a mentor and guide. As Executive Director of Foundations' Center for Afterschool and Expanded Learning, he and his team advance the educational quality of out-of-school time, providing state-of-the-art professional development, training, and publications and tools used by more than 20,000 programs across the country.  

Leveraging partnerships with schools, families and community-based organizations, Ron holds vast experience with direct service programming. He has developed and managed 21st Century Community Learning Centers programs in Philadelphia, PA, serving 15,000 students in grades 1-12. His successful implementation of the Advantage Program for ninth graders within The School District of Philadelphia led to the subsequent development of many successful middle and high school afterschool programs in Philadelphia, PA and Camden, NJ, namely:  Homework Zone, Prep Zone, Prep Zone Plus, Kids: Plan, Do Learn! and Kids: Explore, Discover, Succeed!

Ron holds a Masters of Educational Administration from Villanova University, a Principal Certification from Arcadia University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from West Chester University. Before joining Foundations, Inc., he spent over twenty-five years as a junior high school teacher, assistant principal and principal in the Philadelphia area.
